This is an easy welding, low carbon grade stick electrode. It appears to me to be a low hydrogen version (which means you need to bake out the electrodes to drive off the water, and take precautions keep them dry).
Ferron has good striking qualities, a slag which is easily removed and an excellent weld bead profile and appearance.The weld metal deposited is of high metallurgical and radiographic quality, i.e. complies with the radiographic standard of AWS A5.1 grade 1.
Ferron 1 deposits weld metal capable of resisting cracking under conditions of high restraint (due to sulphur cracking plus the weld metal is soft and ductile) and is suitable for welding C-Mn steels and low alloy steels in structural fabrications.The electrode is suitable for welding sulphur bearing steels and components to be vitreously enamelled.
It has enough Manganese to be able to weld moderately high sulpher steel components.
