lYes. Aluminum can be welded with all manual, semi automatic, and automatic processes. GTAW produces the highest weld quality. If you have the equipment, it can be friction-stir welded. It is fairly common in manufacturing to see it GMAW-ed. Back in the day it was gas welded. It's not unheard of to see it SMAW-ed.
Added: I forgot to mention that there are a few forms of aluminum that CAN NOT be welded. It is very important to identify the specific alloy.
