    I've never heard of it being used, although it is not uncommon for surgeons to use tungsten carbide surgical knives, so the metal is probably unlikely to be poisonous to the human body. As far as I am aware, the most common metal used for these procedures in titanium, perhaps because it is lighter thus reducing the recovery time as patients do not need to build up as much muscle to compensate for the new addition.
