Best method to remove powder coating?

1 answer Reward0 Remaining Time 0 Day

I've searched throughout the web and im getting different answers as to how to effectively remove powder coating from for example rims. I've read of people using media to blast it, if this is the best method then what type media and grit. I've also read about chemical stripping (aircraft stripper, some MILES product, etc) or baking it off in a 750 degree oven. I just would like to know the simplest way to do it myself, im not looking to go to a shop to have it done. Thanks in advance for the input.

All the methods you have come across on the web are valid. However you only use an example object "rims" that is having the powder coat removed. Different stripping processes can fatigue material. If the item being stripped is a critical part of a system you should be carefull on the process you choose. Glass / plastic media blast is a great finish for non critical alloyed parts, ensure you blank off threaded areas / holes to stop media getting in .
