Data on China's import and export of tungsten products in 2018

       According to the latest statistics from the general administration of customs of China, China exported a total of 37377.91 tons of tungsten products (actual quantity) in 2018, and the amount of metal folded was 31,000 tons, an increase of 6.54% year-on-year in 2017. The total amount of exported tungsten products was $1.331 billion, there is an increase of 44.9% year-on-year in 2017.



Among them, 183.632 tons of tungsten concentrate was exported, up 90% year-on-year in 2017. Export of secondary ammonium tungstate (APT) 5,640.55 tons, up 4% year-on-year in 2017. Exports of tungsten trioxide were 7375.793 tons, up 20 percent year-on-year in 2017. Exports of ammonium metatungstate (AMT) were 1,614.942 tons, down 6.7% year-on-year in 2017. Exports of other tungsten oxides were 6,776.5 tons, up 4.3 percent year-on-year in 2017. Exports of tungsten powder were 1,789.347 tons, up 42.8 percent year-on-year in 2017. Exports of tungsten carbide totaled 5,953.279 tons, up 8.5 percent year-on-year in 2017. Exports of ferrotungsten were 2,630.8 tons, up 0.3 percent year-on-year in 2017. Tungsten products are mainly exported to the United States, the European Union, Japan and South Korea.



In the first half of 2018, the overseas environment is relatively loose and the demand for tungsten products is large. However, since October, affected by the trade war, the overall export of tungsten products has been affected to some extent. Take APT for example: from October to December, the accumulated export volume of APT is 844 tons, compared with 780.5 tons in July. From the perspective of export unit price, APT price from October to November is about 25,000 usd/ton, and export price from December is about 34,000 usd/ton, which is the highest monthly average price in 2018.



In 2018, China imported a total of 8,108.043 tons of tungsten products and 4,585.62 tons of metals, totaling 132 million us dollars. Of which, 6658.023 tons were imported tungsten concentrate. 376.416 tons of imported tungsten trioxide; Imports sodium tungstate 495.3 tons, imports tungsten powder 217 tons. The main sources of tungsten concentrate imports are Korea, Vietnam and Russia, with 2,738 tons, 1,609 tons and 913 tons respectively.
