Is welding a hard thing to learn?

1 answer Reward0 Remaining Time 0 Day

Recently, I have decided that I want to go into welding as a career. I am 16, and a sophomore in highschool. I plan on going to a school next fall that my highschool pays for me to go to. At that school, there will be teachers to well, teach me how to weld. people around school though say that since I am not book smart or math smart, that it is a stupid decision to make and that I won't be able to do it.

I worked in engineering, in a power plant. Welding is easy to learn, hard to do well. It is truly an art. Good, really good, welders are worth their weight in gold, and they are paid well. The work can be merely tiring and physical, or it can be exhausting and the conditions can be ok, or they can be miserable. Welders often work looking at their work in a mirror, peeking around corners because they can't get themselves in front of their work. Sometimes they are on the ground sometimes under it, sometimes 20 stories above it. You want to weld? Go do it.
