The laser diffraction method determines the particle size distribution by measuring the angle of the scattered light when the laser beam passes through the dispersed particle sample. Large particles scatter the laser at small angles, while small particles scatter light at large angles, as shown below. Afterwards, the angle-scattered light intensity data was analyzed, and the particle size of the particles forming the scattering pattern was calculated using the Mie scattering theory. Finally, the particle size is reported as the equivalent ball diameter.
