    Actually, it is possible in a way. Steel with a little Tungsten forms tungsten carbides which are among the hardest of the carbides, and require high tempering temperatures difficulties in the forging process, in that it wouldn't be possible to forge using hammer & anvil using the traditional methods. The CPM process would allow for this to be done.
