The cemented carbide mold breaks the tubular shape obtained by extrusion or injection and is still in a plasticized state. Place it in the mold cavity while it is hot, and immediately pass compressed air in the center of the tubular parison, causing the mold to expand and adhere tightly. After cooling and solidifying on the cavity wall, a hollow product can be obtained. The mold used in this plastic product molding method is called a hollow blow mold. Hollow blow molds are mainly used for forming thermosetting plastic hollow container products.

Cemented carbide molds are pneumatic forming molds, usually in the form of a single female or male mold. Press the pre-prepared plastic sheet tightly on the periphery of the mold and heat it to soften it, and then vacuum on the side close to the mold, or fill it with compressed air on the opposite side to make the plastic sheet close to the mold. After cooling and shaping, a thermoformed product is obtained. The mold used for forming this type of product is called the air pressure forming mold.

Cemented carbide mold production and manufacturing technology concentrates the essence of mechanical processing, which is not only a combination of electromechanical processing, but also inseparable from the operation of mold fitter. Its characteristics are as follows:

(1) Process characteristics of mold production After a set of molds is made, hundreds of thousands of parts or products can be produced through it. However, the mold itself can only be produced in a single piece, and the products of mold companies are generally unique, and there is almost no repeated production. This is a significant difference between mold companies and other companies.

(2) The characteristics of mold manufacturing. Because molds are produced in a single piece, the accuracy requirements are higher than the product accuracy requirements. Therefore, there are many unique features in manufacturing. ①Mold manufacturing requires relatively high technical level of workers. ②The production cycle of cemented carbide molds is longer than that of general products, and the cost is higher. ③In the process of manufacturing molds, there are many processing contents in the same process, so the production efficiency is low. ④During the processing of the mold, the position and size of some working parts should be determined through experiments. ⑤After assembly, the mold must be tested and adjusted. ⑥Mold production is a typical one-piece production. Therefore, the production process, management method, and mold manufacturing process have unique adaptability and laws. ⑦Complex shape and high manufacturing quality requirements. ⑧The material has high hardness. ⑨Mould processing is developing towards mechanization, precision and automation.

Cemented carbide molds are used to continuously extrude plastic profiles. They are commonly referred to as extrusion molds, also known as extrusion heads. This is another broad category of plastic molds with a wide range of uses. It is mainly used for the forming and processing of plastic rods, pipes, plates, sheets, films, wire and cable coatings, nets, monofilaments, composite profiles and special profiles. It is also used for bad molding of hollow products. This type of mold is called a parison mold or a parison die.

Product parts have higher and higher requirements for the accuracy of cemented carbide molds, and there are more and more molds with high precision, long life and high efficiency. At present, the use of precision forming grinders, CNC high-precision surface grinders, precision CNC wire-cutting machine tools, high-precision continuous trajectory coordinate grinders, and three-coordinate measuring instruments is becoming more and more common, making mold processing more high-tech-intensive
