Effect of spraying process conditions on the wear resistance of HVOF WC-Co coating

The HVOF process conditions directly affect the heating and acceleration characteristics of the particles, determine the temperature, speed, and residence time of the particles in the flame flow, thereby affecting the structure of the coating, especially the content and size of the WC particles in the coating, and the composition of the coating.

Therefore, while the HVOF spraying system continues to develop, a large number of process studies have been carried out on the coating structure and performance changes.The structural changes of HVOF WC-Co coatings are reviewed in detail. The size and content of WC particles in the coating have a significant impact on the wear resistance of the coating. Figure 1 shows the abrasive wear test results of the coating prepared by the CH-2000 system under two different conditions, indicating that the spraying conditions have a greater impact on the wear resistance of the coating.
