How to choose the right thermal spraying process



According to different application environments, conditions and requirements, it is necessary to choose a suitable thermal spraying process. The process selection of thermal spraying can be based on the following principles: (1) The coating bonding force is not high, and the melting point of the spraying material does not exceed 2500°C. Flame spraying with low equipment cost can be used. (2) Plasma spraying should be used for some of the more expensive parts that require higher coating performance. (3) Arc spraying should be used for metal spraying with a large amount of work. (4) Supersonic spraying can be used for metal or alloy coatings that require high bonding force and low porosity; Low-pressure plasma spraying can be used for metal or ceramic coatings that require high bonding force and low porosity; explosive spraying can be used to strengthen important parts. (5) For workpieces with large batches, automatic spraying should be used. (6) For parts with particularly high safety requirements, tests and demonstrations must be carried out before spraying techniques and materials are selected.
