       Chromium carbide-production method

Metal chromium powder or chromium oxide and carbon powder are mixed and pressed for molding, and sintered at a temperature above 1000°C in a reducing atmosphere. Or mix the chromium carbide powder with graphite and water evenly, put it into a corundum crucible, cover it with graphite, cover it and burn it at 1400°C for 3h. After cooling, sieving was performed to obtain chromium carbide powder.

Chromium carbide (Cr3C2) has a low melting point of 1710 degrees Celsius and a density of 6.68g.cm-3. The main characteristic is that chromium carbide has high room temperature and hot hardness. It has good wettability with metals such as Co and Ni. Type carbide has the highest oxidation resistance. It has to be severely oxidized in the air at 1100°C to 1400°C, and has excellent corrosion resistance. It is a material with excellent comprehensive performance of high temperature oxidation resistance, friction and wear resistance and gas erosion resistance. Mainly used in high temperature resistant coatings, but directly sprayed with chromium carbide coatings, the adhesion is not strong. Therefore, it is mainly used as the main raw material component for preparing NiCr-Cr3C2 composite powder.
