Today we talks about self fluxing alloy
powder. Self fluxing alloy powder includes nickel base, cobalt base, iron base,
copper base, etc. Among them, iron-based alloy powder has been widely used
because of its wide source of raw materials, low price and good properties.

Nickel based and cobalt based alloy powders
have good comprehensive properties, but nickel and cobalt are rare metals with
high cost. They are generally only used for surfacing with special surface
performance requirements. The commonly used alloy powders for powder plasma arc
surfacing mainly include self fusible alloy powder and composite powder.

Iron based self fluxing alloy powder: iron
based self fluxing alloy powder is mainly composed of iron and several main
elements such as iron, chromium, boron and silicon. This kind of alloy is developed
on the basis of chromium stainless steel and nickel chromium stainless steel.
It can be divided into two types: austenitic stainless steel type self melting
alloy (adding boron and silicon elements to austenitic stainless steel and
adjusting the content of carbon and alloy elements) and high chromium cast iron
type self melting alloy.

Copper based self fluxing alloy powder:
copper based alloy has low friction coefficient and good corrosion resistance
to seawater and atmosphere. Copper base alloy has good scratch resistance, good
plasticity and easy processing. At present, there are two kinds of copper based
self melting alloy powders developed and produced in China, one is tin
phosphorus bronze powder, the other is white copper powder with nickel.

Nickel base self fluxing alloy powder: self
fluxing alloys based on nickel are collectively referred to as nickel base
alloys. It can be divided into two categories: nickel borosilicate series and
nickel chromium borosilicate series. Nickel boron silicon series is a self
melting alloy formed by adding an appropriate amount of boron and silicon
elements to nickel; Nickel chromium boron silicon series is to add chromium and
carbon to nickel boron silicon series alloys to form nickel chromium boron
silicon series self melting alloys with wide applications and more varieties.

Cobalt based self melting alloy powder:
this series of self melting alloys are based on metal cobalt and developed on
the basis of stellite alloy. It is formed by adding B and Si elements to cobalt
chromium tungsten alloy. Cobalt based self fluxing alloy has excellent high
temperature performance, good thermal strength, corrosion resistance and
thermal fatigue resistance. It is more suitable for oxidation-resistant,
corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant surface coatings working at 600 ℃ ~ 700
℃. Such as surfacing of sealing surface of high-pressure valve.
