The performance and surface condition of the substrate must meet the requirements of tungsten carbide spraying. Tungsten carbide sprayed substrates should generally meet the following requirements:



Good toughness and resistance to plastic deformation;



Sufficient hardness and strength, especially at high temperatures;



The chemical composition should match the tungsten carbide coating material, and the combination between the two must be very strong;



It should not be damaged under high deposition temperature;



The coefficient of thermal expansion should be similar to that of the coating material;



Good thermal conductivity.
