Application of Supersonic Spraying in Valves

       In valve production, it is usually necessary to improve the local or total surface hardness of materials (such as valve stem, slide plate, valve core and single valve seat) to meet the design requirements of valve service life and service performance.

Supersonic spraying is a common material surface hardening treatment method. Its working principle is to inject powder into a high-speed flame and accelerate it to a speed of 1400-1800m/S or even higher. The powder melts or semi-melts at 3000 ("flame temperature") and the matrix melts at a high speed, resulting in high bond strength, compactness and high quality coatings.

Supersonic spraying has high strength, compactness and excellent wear resistance. Its abrasion resistance is much higher than plasma spray coatings, comparable to explosive spray coatings, and higher than hard chrome coatings.



The characteristics of supersonic spraying are that the material temperature deformation is small, and the material temperature after spraying is lower than 150 degrees Celsius. The surface temperature of the sprayed material is measured. In order to improve the bonding strength of the cemented carbide and the valve stem, the surface of the valve stem is also treated with special sandblasting.
