       The necessary conditions for use as a biological material are non-toxicity, suitable physical properties, non-deterioration in vivo for a long time, compatibility with biological tissues, and the like. In recent years, spraying technology has been applied in bioengineering.



1. Plasma sprayed alumina coating on the surface of titanium alloy artificial bone joints



When the human body undergoes replacement surgery due to bone trauma, sintered oxide or metal artificial bone is usually implanted. Metal materials are prone to rust due to the liquid in the human body, and ceramic materials have insurmountable brittleness. In order to overcome these shortcomings and difficulties, people are looking for new artificial bone materials. The composite artificial bone made by spraying the aluminum oxide coating on the surface of the metal artificial bone by the plasma spraying process can overcome the above shortcomings. Animal tests show that the coating material has good compatibility with organisms, and clinical tests have yielded satisfactory results.



The composition of the sprayed powder material: Al2O3>98.4%, Fe2O3<0.05%, SiO2<0.06%, N2O<0.20%. The powder particle size is 200~320 mesh. Plasma spraying specification: current 350A, voltage 90~100V, spraying distance 100~125mm, gas is nitrogen. Before spraying, the surface of titanium alloy artificial bone must be degreased, sandblasted and dusted.



2. Cobalt-chromium alloy artificial tooth surface sprayed with ZrO2-MgO coating



On the surface of the artificial tooth made of diamond chrome alloy, the nickel-clad aluminum bonding bottom layer is sprayed first, and then the ZrO2-MgO coating is sprayed by plasma arc, and the enamel is applied on the coating and then sintered. The teeth made in this way not only alleviate the difference between the linear expansion coefficients of various materials, but also have good durability and similarity with human teeth in color.
