Masking materials and release agents for thermal spraying

       1. Masking material



Masking material refers to the solid material used to protect the non-sandblasted and non-sprayed surfaces of the workpiece substrate. Due to the isolation and protection effect of the masking material, the parts that do not need sandblasting will not be worn by abrasive sand particles, so that the non-spraying parts will not adhere to the sprayed droplets and protect the geometric tolerance of the surface.



Commonly used shielding materials are rubber, polyurethane elastomers, plastics, metal sheets and metal sleeves. Organic masking materials are used to protect non-sandblasted surfaces, and metallic masking materials are suitable for protecting both non-sandblasted and non-sprayed surfaces. The protection of mass-produced parts is mostly protected by a special metal protective sheath, which is easy to disassemble and can be reused many times.



 2. Anti-sticking agent



A release agent is a coating used to protect the non-sprayed surface of a workpiece substrate. How to use: Before spraying construction, evenly coat the anti-stick coating on the surface that does not need spraying. During spraying construction, due to the isolation and protection effect of the anti-adhesive film layer, the surface that does not need to be sprayed will not be directly deposited with coating materials or splashed with molten droplets to avoid damage to the surface. The general basic requirements for coating antiblocking agents for thermal spraying are as follows:



1) It has good heat resistance, can withstand the burning of jet flame, does not burn, and does not volatilize.



2) It has high anti-adhesion, no chemical reaction to high temperature sprayed molten particles or sputtered molten particles, low affinity, moderate bonding strength and easy to peel off.



3) It has good coatability, suitable viscosity, uniform texture and easy coating. It does not flow or spread after coating, ensuring that the surface of the workpiece sprayed will not be polluted by the anti-sticking agent.



4) Easy to clean with water. The anti-sticking agent is preferably a water-based paint. After spraying, the anti-sticking agent can be easily removed and scrubbed with water.



5) Non-toxic, non-polluting, safe to use.
