NiCrAIY is mainly used as the underlying material of low pressure plasma spraying (LPPS) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs). The underlying material of thermal barrier coatings prepared by electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) usually adopts NiCrAIY or Pt-Al layer.
The main role of each element in NiCrAIY material: Cr oxidation/corrosion resistance, Al oxidation resistance (alumina film is formed on the surface of the coating during high temperature use), Y enhances the bonding performance of the alumina film.
