Coating thickness is one of the important indicators to measure coating quality. The thickness of the coating greatly affects the reliability and use value of the product. Through the detection of coating thickness, in addition to evaluating whether the workpiece with tolerance index or repair size requirements is reasonable, it can also directly or indirectly evaluate the corrosion resistance, wear resistance and other properties of the coating. Therefore, it is widely used in coating quality inspection and process research. There are many methods to detect coating thickness, commonly used are microscope measurement method, micrometer method, thickness meter method and so on.

    Microscopic measurement of coating thickness:

Microscopic measurement is the accurate measurement of coating thickness under a microscope. After mounting, grinding and etching the cross section of the coated sample perpendicular to the coating, the interface between the substrate and the coating can be clearly seen under the microscope, and the thickness of the coating can be accurately measured. Take the average value of the thickness of five points at different positions on the sample as the thickness of the coating.

   Millimeter size measurement method:

The micrometer measurement method is to use a micrometer to measure the difference between the fixed point (generally no less than three points) dimensions of the sample before and after spraying, and take the average value as the thickness of the coating. This method is simple and convenient, and is often used when the thickness of the sprayed coating is not very precise.
