The main methods of machining commonly used:
(1) Turning. Turning is mainly suitable for the processing of inner and outer surfaces. Special tool materials are required.
(2) Grinding. Grinding is mainly suitable for the finishing of inner circle, outer circle, plane and various forming surfaces (gears, threads, splines, etc.). A special grinding wheel is required.
(3) Grinding. For the machining of precision surfaces.
In addition, there are electrolytic grinding, ultrasonic vibration turning and electrical discharge machining.
