In the structure of the plasma spray gun, there is a certain gap between the cathode and the nozzle. The no-load voltage of the power supply cannot cause a non-transfer arc between the two poles, and an instantaneous short circuit between the two poles must be caused to start the arc. The function of the arc ignition device is to apply high frequency and high voltage between the two poles when the arc is started, so as to break down the medium between the poles, generate sparks, and ignite the arc. Usually a high frequency oscillating spark generator is used as the arc ignition device.
