How to choose the type of sandblasting abrasive

       Metal abrasives, such as cast iron sand and cast steel sand, have long service life, low crushing rate, and can be reused. Sandblasting of other materials, because it is prone to rust pollution.



     Non-metallic abrasives include alumina, silicon carbide, quartz sand, river sand, slag, pumice, garnet, etc., especially brown corundum sand with hard texture, low crushing rate, high sandblasting efficiency, good quality, and will not affect the surface of the substrate. Pollution, no silica dust hazard, moderate price, is the most commonly used sandblasting abrasive. Although silicon carbide sand has high hardness, it has strong embedding ability to the matrix and high crushing rate, so it is usually not used much. High-quality quartz sand and river sand can also be used in on-site large-area blasting operations that cannot be recycled.
