Chromium boride contains B29.3% and Cr70.7%. Melting point 2150℃, Mohs hardness 8~9.
Chromium boride is a very hard crystalline powder with excellent wear resistance and excellent high temperature oxidation resistance. The different boride hard phases are the main strengthening phases in the matrix of nickel-, cobalt- and iron-based self-fluxing alloys widely used in thermal spraying. It can be used as a wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant coating, a strengthening phase component of various self-fluxing alloys, etc.
Coatings can be prepared by spraying processes such as gas-stabilized plasma spraying, supersonic flame spraying, and explosive spraying.
