Titanium nitride (TiN) is a light brown powder containing N22.6% and Ti77.4%. Melting point (2950℃) and high hardness, stable chemical properties, but brittle. Titanium nitride tends to release nitrogen at high temperature and lose its characteristics. Therefore, vacuum plasma spraying should be used to keep the nitrogen content and phase composition of the coating unchanged.

Titanium nitride can be sprayed with pure components, or compounded or mixed with TiC in a certain proportion for spraying. Used as a wear-resistant coating used below 1000 °C, such as heat treatment furnace rollers, hot air blower shafts and blades, smoke extractor parts, non-ferrous metal die-casting molds, etc. It can also be used as a protective coating for color surface decoration with high wear resistance and scratch resistance, such as mechanical handles, escalators, etc.

The coating can be prepared using a vacuum plasma spray process.
