       Preferential wear within the design range is permitted when the abradable coating is in contact with the mating part. Due to the wearable requirements of the coating, the coating is susceptible to air erosion. Such coatings are not only abradable, but also have some resistance to airflow erosion. These coatings must not be abrasive, and these coatings must be resistant to various thermal changes and chemical corrosion of combustion products. Its general characteristics and application characteristics are:

     (1) When preparing abradable coatings, a suitable bonding primer is often required.

     (2) Thick coating is usually used (thickness up to 3.8mm).

     (3) The coating should be machined to suitable size, grinding will change the surface properties of the coating and its grindability.

     (4) Such coatings are used to promote wear of mating parts. When applied to the stator, the resulting wear must be free from seizure and material transfer to reduce the risk of fire; when applied to the rotor, the abrasive coating provides a reliable cutting action, allowing the mating stator to use the most resistant Air-eroded coating.
