       Soft bearing surface coatings allow abrasive particles to embed and also deform to adjust bearing surfaces, requiring adequate lubrication. The general characteristics and application characteristics of coatings for soft bearing surfaces are:

     (1) Good lubrication must be provided, otherwise the wear rate will increase.

     (2) Because the lubricant entrains many abrasive particles, the support coating must be "soft" to trap these abrasive particles.

     (3) Soft bearing coatings generally have poor abrasive wear properties.

     (4) The surface roughness plays a certain role in the bearing performance. The rough surface generally has a higher wear rate, but the surface forms concave grooves for storing abrasive particles.

     (5) Coatings for soft bearing surfaces are widely used, mainly in: Babbitt bearings, hydraulic press bushings, thrust bearing bushes, compressor crosshead sliders, bearing bushes, etc.

     (6) The spraying materials for the coating on the soft bearing surface are mostly non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum bronze, phosphor bronze, lead bronze, babbitt and tin.
