Thermal Spray Anti-Corrosion Coatings and Repairs

       Due to the many technological means of thermal spraying technology, the choice of spraying materials is very wide. The properties of metal thermal spraying materials shall comply with "Technical Conditions for Classification and Supply of Wire Rods, Bars and Core Materials for Thermal Spraying Flame and Arc Spraying" GB/T 12608-2003. Usability should be qualified.

1. Mechanical properties. The mechanical properties of the wire should allow the wire to be fed and sprayed without problems. The thermal spraying wire should be of moderate hardness. Too hard wire is difficult to manipulate and straighten, and cause the important parts of the spray gun, such as the wire feeder, conduit, conductive tube or nozzle to wear too quickly. On the other hand, too soft thermal spray wire can cause feeding difficulties.

2. Surface properties. The surface of the thermally sprayed wire must be smooth and free from defects such as corrosion products, burrs and cracks, shrinkage craters, laps and scales, as well as necking, welds and beading. In addition, foreign matter that affects the performance of the thermal spray material or the thermal spray coating should be removed.

3. Usability. The wire shall be wound in one piece on spools, spools, or coiled, or embedded in barrels. Twists or sharp bends should be avoided. The head of the wire should be firmly tied to prevent it from spreading. The beginning of the wire should be marked for easy identification. The outermost layer of the wire on the spool should be at least 3mm from the edge of the spool flange. The diameter of any loose single-turn wire should not be greater than 1.2 times the outer diameter of the spool, and should not be smaller than the inner diameter of the spool. The wire should not be twisted. The unrolled coil should be kept flat on the ground. Unwinding of the coil does not affect normal use.
