       In the metal finishing process, sandblasting is often used to clean the surface of the workpiece before thermal spraying. However, for some special small workpieces, sandblasting can also be used as a surface treatment technology to improve the mechanical properties of the workpiece surface and improve the fatigue resistance of the workpiece.

Sandblasting is powered by compressed air, and a high-speed jet beam has been formed to spray materials (such as: quartz sand, emery, copper ore, etc.) to the surface of the workpiece to be treated at high speed, so that the appearance or shape of the workpiece surface changes. Under the impact and cutting action of abrasives, the workpiece can be cleaned, and at the same time, different roughness can be obtained, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the workpiece surface, improving fatigue resistance, and increasing the adhesion between the coating and the coating.

In addition to this, the main applications of sandblasting are as follows:

1. Sandblasting the workpiece before coating and heat treatment can clear and clean the rust and other substances on the surface of the workpiece, and improve the bonding force between the workpiece and the coating medium;

2. The burr of the machined workpiece is cleaned to make the surface of the workpiece smoother and more beautiful;

3. Improve the mechanical properties of the parts. After sandblasting, the mechanical parts can produce uniform and fine concave and convex surfaces (basic pattern) on the surface of the parts, so that the lubricating oil can be stored, thereby improving the lubricating conditions, reducing noise and improving the service life of the machine.
