Overview of China thermal spray materials

       

  Thermal spray coating materials are the “food” of thermal spray techniques and
material basis of thermal spraying production. Depending on its different
forms, it’s classified as powder, wire, and bar. From its elements it’s mainly
divided into: metal alloys, ceramics, composite, polymer four categories; and
based on its functions, it’s divided into many categories, such as wear-resisting, corrosion
resistant, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, heat insulation,
seal, absorbing, lubrication, antifriction, anti-skid, insulation, and
conductive. And it’s classified as bonding materials and surface materials
because of its different operations, or spray materials and weld materials.

We research and use hundreds varieties of thermal spray coating
materials, and there are about one hundred kinds of thermal spraying materials
have put into use. Superfine tungsten powder, Co-based, Ni-based, Fe-based alloy powder, Al2O3、Al2O3·TiO2、ZrO2·Y2O3、Cr2O3 ceramic powder，reproduced tungsten carbide powder, Ni/Al、WC/Co、NiCr/Cr3C2、Ni/Cg composite powder；Zn、Al、Zn-Al、Fe-based、Ni-based metal wire material, Cr2O3 bar, tungsten
carbide powder, superfine tungsten carbide
powder are widely used in
recent years.

At present, nearly 600 sets imported large thermal spraying equipment are used in china, and it
increases at the rate of importing about 40 sets per
year. In our country, consuming of all kinds of the thermal spraying material
amount up to thousands of tons, and importing materials amount to hundreds of
tons per year, high-grade ceramics, alloy, and composite powder are mainly
imported.
