Lithium battery has active chemical properties, small size, high capacity density and low physical and chemical stability. Metals in batteries are prone to violent oxidation reactions with oxygen in the air, releasing a lot of heat energy, and so have always been at risk of spontaneous combustion. The self-igniting Tesla chassis is equipped with 7,104 18,650 lithium batteries, which is the biggest danger of the car.

At present, the most widely used lithium batteries on the market are lithium iron phosphate batteries and ternary batteries. Although the Tesla 18650 lithium battery pack is equipped with perfect thermal management system and battery management system, and USES plastic film to protect the battery pack to avoid contact with air, it cannot prevent short circuit inside the battery. The short circuit of the battery is caused by direct contact between the positive and negative poles or poor wiring. In response, battery experts say the cathode material should be made of tungsten oxide, a rare metal with a large surface effect and porosity, to prevent dendrites from forming and puncturing the membrane.
